Marcus & Co. was an American luxury jewelry retailer from 1892 to 1962 in New York City.
==History==
Marcus & Co. was co-founded in 1892 by Marcus Herman, a German-born former employee of Tiffany & Co., and his two sons, William and George Elder.〔(Marcus & Co. ), Macklowe Gallery〕〔Martha Gandy Fales, (''Jewelry in America, 1600-1900'' ), Antique Collectors' Club, 1995, pp. 421-422〕 It was located at 17th Street and Broadway in Manhattan.〔(''The Jewelers' Circular and Horological Review'' ), Jewelers' Circular Publishing Company, 1899, Vol. 39, p. 9〕
The designers used gemstones such as zircons, chrysoberyls, tourmalines, opals, garnets, beryls, spinels, and peridots.〔 French miniature portraitist Fernand Paillet designed a pendant for them.
